Prasco Ships Solia™, Its First Oral Contraceptive

Cincinnati, Ohio, June 14, 2004—Prasco Laboratories, a privately-held pharmaceutical company located in Cincinnati, Ohio, announced today it has begun shipping its first oral contraceptive Solia™1 (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol 0.15 mg/0.03 mg) Tablets. Solia Tablets is a generic oral contraceptive to the AB-rated brands Desogen®2 and Ortho-Cept®3. Prasco expects Solia to compete directly with the first generic desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol 0.15 mg/0.03 mg product, Apri®4. For 2003, Apri had estimated sales of $121 million.5 “The launch of Solia is a result of our commitment to and focus on bringing to market best-in-class multi-source products in order to benefit pharmacists and consumers,” said Prasco Chief Executive Officer, E. Thomas Arington. “Solia will be marketed using our value-brand strategy, meaning the product will have brand quality, but priced like a generic.
